Remains have been discovered in Peru that indicate that they belong to a leader of a Pre-Incan civilization, and would date back to over 1200 years ago. Characteristics that indicate the remains belong to a ruler include a headdress and a feathered eye mask, which would specific to leaders in this time period. Other objects discovered include ceramics, copper-plated textiles, and a ceremonial knife. Carlos Elera, in charge of this excavation project, reported that the remains of almost 20 people have been uncovered and are still in good condition. In this time period in Peru, the culture was that of Sican, which came about around 700 AD and lasted until approximately 1375. Seven or eight different "lords" ruled in a 200 year time span, until the conquest of the Chimu.
