Decorated Ming Dynasty
Tomb Unearthed in China
There have
been recently discovered religious murals that date back to the Ming Dynasty
(1368-1644) in Jiang xi Province, China at a parking lot. I find it kind of interesting that these
murals in these found tombs have not been destroyed or vandalized by
looters. The only thing that really puts
these murals in bad shape is erosion of natural causes. On the other hand, you cannot help it if it
was never discovered until now because of natural causes. Now, colorful tombs are very common in northern
China but hardly make way down to the southern part of China. So, needless to say that it is very
rare. The archaeologists who found this
tomb are going to continue to excavate this site and hope to find more relics
inside. The walls were ‘highly decorated
with peonies, lotuses, chrysanthemums and sticks of bamboo with red, black,
blue and yellow hues’ that incorporate powerful religious views.
