Authenticity of Teotihuacan's "The Malinaltepec Mask" Verified in New Book

“The Malinaltepec Mask”, is a new publication which looks at 7 studies recently conducted by 20 researchers on the prehispanic Malinaltepec Mask, confirming its authenticity. The publication is put together by funerary mask specialist Sofia Martinez del Campo.

The Malinaltepec Mask was discovered in 1921 and has been a source of controversy among archaeologists for over a decade. Some think it had been recently created while other specialists such as Porfirio Aguirre are sure it is a great find of the Mesoamerican era. After a decade of research and investigation conducted by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the Malinaltepec Mask has been verified as an original.
